UNGS 1201 WEEK 10 : SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FIELD WORK & PROJECT INITIATIVES OF IIUM
Assalamualaikum and Hyee everyone ! I hope all of you doing well 💝 Insya Allah, for this week, we will have a short and simple blog about "Field Work and Project Initiatives of IIUM regarding Sustainable Development". As a university, IIUM plays a significant role towards implementing Sejahtera concept within and outside communities that close to university's location.
So, one of the initiatives that IIUM organize was "Desa Sejahtera". What actually behind this project ? Desa Sejahtera consists of squatters neighborhood that located near to IIUM Main Entrance. There are various unsustainable development issues that are within the university capacity to help. Through this initiative, the university can practice and promote the real concept of Rahmatan lil 'Alamin. It also serves as a platform for students to really understand the concept, issues, and challenges of sustainable development through experiential learning.
This program start early of this year around March 2021. Many IIUM students volunteer to join this program. So, they started to pack the food for them and provide a few house utensils like stove, dry food and others to distribute to all the villagers.
Instead of that, there are many ways we can help this villagers to make them live in a better life. There are many programs and activities for them that already in the planning such as Gotong Royong, Tuition or Quran class for the children in that village and also organizing the awareness programs about hygiene, education and many more. In addition, there are also many programs that IIUM organize that involve the students and also community near IIUM location.
So, in my opinion, this programs should do every year in IIUM to make students have more understanding in solving sustainable development problems. Besides, students also can learn the reality of life and make them encourage to make a better life in the future. That's all from me for this time.
Thank you ! 💥
